Silver medal - Adelaide Hills Wine Show 2009
Top wine in its class.
Bouquet & Palate:
Honeydew melon and nashi pear aromas are complemented by overtones of star anise spice characters. Pear and green apple flavours are enhanced by the fine texture on the palate providing full mouthfeel, typical of the variety. A full bodied, smooth wine with lively lingering finish.
Winemaking:
The Pinot Gris was hand picked in two passes at differing ripeness to produce a wine with fine structure and lifted fruit aromas. The grapes are whole bunch pressed to minimize phenolic extraction, creating a wine of restraint and elegance. Partial barrel ferment in old oak with moderate lees stirring has given extra depth and added complexity on the palate.
