2008 Beltana Blanc de Blancs Late Disgorged
Ten years ago we ventured for the first time into sparkling wine making when Kate's parents gave us their old disgorging equipment which was originally shipped out from Champagne when Kate finished studying in '97 (again, a LONG time ago!).
It was 2008, which is most famous for producing very ripe reds wines after a crazy heat wave in March. However what is forgotten, is that it was actually a lovely season during February which is when we picked the fruit for our sparkling wines. Fortunately we 'lost' a crate of the '08 Beltana and it has been resting at a cool 10` through the past 10 winters and summers developing complexity and richness on lees.
Last month we disgorged 60 bottles of this wine, which was poured to guests at the recent masterclass. We can’t go past the review of one guest “If that was a perfume I’d wear it every day”!
Celebrating ten years of tirage age for our flagship sparkling wine.
