2019 South Australian Wine Industry Association Environmental Excellence Award

Consideration of the environment has been forefront in Hamish and Kates planning and development of the business since they stepped foot on their Longwood property 16 years ago. Starting with heritage protecting 80% of the native bushland to protect the natural biodiversity. Whilst many of these features may not be immediately obvious, every plant, building and process that the business operates under has been put in place with key consideration of how it will affect the environment. Whether it is recycling (cartons, coffee, general plastics and paper), solar power (to reduce carbon footprint), the selection of materials used on buildings (ensuring natural insulation and reducing energy for heating and cooling), winery infrastructure (selecting new winery tanks which require no chemicals for cleaning), vineyard maintenance (no pesticides), or increasing storage on site (reducing fuel load from transporting stock on and off site).
