Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The fruit is hand picked into small baskets and then undergoes a cold soak pre-ferment to enhance the extraction of colour and aromatics. After fermentation the skins are pressed out using our
traditional basket press and then the wine aged in French oak barriques for 16 months. After this period, we blend our finest parcels and hand bottle onsite.
Vineyard Notes
A challenging vintage with an unseasonably wet and cold growing season, followed by two heatwaves in December. This was followed by cool, wet conditions in January and February which enabled ripening to continue at a reasonable pace before slowing down due to cooler night temperatures. Yields would have been similar to 2019 - lower than the long-term average - had it not been for losses to fire and smoke exposure.
Most of the fruit for this wine is from our Longwood home block.
Food Pairing Notes
Duck, roasted mushrooms
